Namibia

Tucked away in the south-western corner of Africa, Namibia has some of the most stunning landscapes in Africa - driving the lone roads it is the amazing arid rock formations and desert sands that will stay with you forever. The Fish River Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of Africa, the red sands of some of the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei; the salt pans at Etosha; it is hard to know where to begin. Add to those the unique wildlife like desert rhino, elephants and oryx and you have a destination that is hard to beat.

Travel in Namibia is possible year-round, but game viewing is at its peak during the dry season between March and November. In the wet season (December - February), landscapes are wonderfully green, Sossusvlei may fill up with water and young animals are born.

Huge red sand dunes tower above this shallow pan in the Namib Desert. Hike to the top and enjoy the stupendous views.

Fish River Canyon

Also dubbed the Grand Canyon of Africa, this imposing gorge is one of Africa's premier natural wonders.

Swakopmund

Started by the Germans, the town retains a true Teutonic feel.  Stay a while and enjoy some of the adventure activities on offer.

Damaraland

Between the Skeleton Coast and the interior plateau lies this land of seasonal rivers and springs, spectacular cliffs and rocks, home to desert elephant and rhino.

Etosha National Park

Centered on a series of salt pans, Etosha is Namibia's premier wildlife viewing area.  Watch from the safety of your vehicle, or sit at night by a floodlit waterhole.

Game Drives

The best way to see wildlife is from your vehicle, driven by your guide who will explain everything there is to know about the animals you encounter.

Waterhole at night

Unique in Africa, the floodlit waterholes in Etosha allow you to sit back and enjoy whatever comes down for a drink at night.

Hike up Sossusvlei

It is two steps forward and one step back, but once you make it to the top of the towering dunes at Sossusvlei, the view is like no other on earth.

Tribal visits

Visit the Himba or San (Bushmen) in their settlements and learn about their way of life, uniquely adapted to this dry land.
