Our One Percent for Our Future Challenge

At Adventure Coordinators we believe we must care for our planet and its future;

if not for us, we certainly owe it to our children.

Carbon offsets are an integral part of the solution.

We will match your contributions
dollar for dollar.

The Problem

Flying is a large contributor to global warming - a typical overseas flight increases the average Canadian's carbon footprint by 15%.

But we are not about to stop flying - we love adventure travel too much.  But planes using alternative fuels or electricity are still a long way off.

The Solution

The solution is simple.  We can invest money in energy saving projects which are known to counterbalance the amount of carbon our flights emit.

This is called offsetting. At Adventure Coordinators we offset all of our flights and car emissions, both those we create personally as well as those we create for business.

One Percent

A little goes a long way.  For example, it costs only CA$70 to offset the typical overseas flight.

We believe that together we can make a difference: we challenge each and everyone of our travellers to invest as little as one percent of their tour cost in carbon offsets.

This is our 1% for the future challenge.

We work with Planetair, recognized by the Pembina Institute and David Suzuki Foundation as one of the best suppliers of carbon offsets in Canada.

With Planetair, your offsets provide funding for new projects that, because of financial or technical barriers, would not and could not go forward without offset funding.  This means your offsets are making a real and measurable difference every time.

matching your contributions by planting trees

We match our clients' contributions* when they book a holiday package with us and participate in our 1% for the future challenge.

Our matching contributions are used to reforest previously denuded lands on Ontario's Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.  The tree planting is done under the auspices of the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

In a typical year we plant 350 trees.

If you have questions, I suggest you take a look at Planetair's FAQ's.   And of course you can always contact me.
