Self-guided Portuguese Camino
Quieter than the Camino Frances, the Portuguese Camino follows the route the body of the Apostle St. James took en-route his final resting place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Starting in the city of Porto you walk this ancient pilgrimage route through small hamlets and pretty forests, over ancient bridges and through market towns dating back to the time of the Romans. As your luggage will be transferred for you, all you need to carry is your daypack.

Summers are busy on the Camino and you should book well ahead of time. Consider the beautiful spring and fall seasons when temperatures are perfect for hiking, rain falls only every third day and crowds have gone home.

DAY 10 Ramble to old Pontevedra (3-4 hrs, 12 kms)
DAY 11 Hike to Caldas de Reis (6-7 hrs, 22 kms)
DAY 12 To Padron (5-6 hrs, 19 kms)
DAY 13 To Santiago de Compostela (6-7hrs, 26 kms)
DAY 14 End Santiago
I could have walked weeks more. I didn't want to stop such was the enjoyment of the walk. I felt like Forrest Gump and just wanted to keep on going!
