Join us on a tour showing you the best of Norway from south to north. Start in the capital Oslo before travelling by train to Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Next we travel through the highlands and lush valleys of Gudbrandsdalen to Lom, famous for its 12th century Stave Church. We use Lom as a base to take a boat trip on the spectacular Geirangerfjord before travelling by vehicle and ferry through spectacular mountain and fjord country to the peaceful village of Aurland. Here you have a full day to relax, hike or simply taking in the views of the fjord and surrounding gardens. From Aurland we travel to Flåm to board the famous Flåm Railway, rated as one of Europe’s best rail journeys due to its many scenic views of fjords and mountains. Disembarking ato Myrdal Station, we take an express boat on Norway’s longest fjord, the Sognefjord, to Bergen. After a day in this lively Hanseatic town we board the coastal ferry system for a 5-day cruise along the stunning westcoast of Norway. Navigating past island and through channels and fjords, we visit such highlights as Ålesund, famed for its art nouveau architecture and historic Trondheim with its Nidaros Cathedral. Cross the Arctic Circle to reach the stunning Lofoten islands, Arctic Tromsø, the North Cape, one of the northernmost points on the European continent, and finally Kirkenes, hard-up against the Russian border. While on board the ship there are options to make excursions to visit lively towns, picturesque fishing villages, Svartisen glacier, a Viking Museum and visit with the indigenous Sámi people.
