Discover Belize, one of the world's premier ecotourism destinations on this adventure tour of jungles, reefs and ancient Mayan sites. From the Caribbean vibes of Belize City we travel via the Maya ruins of Altun Ha to Crooked Tree Wildlife Reserve, birdwatchers paradise but also home to crocodiles and the 2000 year old jungle ruins of Lamanai.
Next we journey along the Hummingbird Highway to Placencia, gateway to Belize's barrier reef - the longest reef system in the western hemisphere. The snorkelling here is second to none.
Via Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve, where we hike through the rainforest to a small waterfall, we head to the traditional Belizean town of San Ignacio. From here we explore the area, including the Maya site of Xunantunich. On your free day here you can choose to visit the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) caves, go canoeing on the Macal River or visit to Belize Botanical Gardens.
Travelling into Guatemala, we explore the great Mayan metropolis of Tikal, part of which is still covered by a tangle of undergrowth.
Our final days in Belize are spent on Caye Caulker, a laid-back former pirate's hide-out. Here you can take a snorkelling trip out to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark & Ray alley, or to Goff's Caye to observe the Manatees in their natural habitat. Scuba diving is also available.
