This overland adventure takes us along parts of the ancient Silk Road, from Kyrgyzstan’s rugged mountains to the plains of Uzbekistan. We begin in Bishkek, exploring the city’s history and landmarks before heading to Karakol, where we visit the Burana Tower and ancient petroglyphs. After a meal with an ethnic minority family, we continue to Issyk Kul Lake and then stay in traditional yurts at Song Kul Lake, learning about Kyrgyz nomadic life.
We hike through Chichkan Gorge and enjoy scenic drives across the Suusamyr Valley and Toktogul Reservoir. In Djalal-Abad, we relax or explore before visiting Arslanbob’s famous walnut groves and waterfall. We then cross the border into Uzbekistan, saying goodbye to our Kyrgyz leader and meeting our Uzbek guide.
While the trip spends the majority of its time in Kyrgyzstan, in Uzbekistan, we visit a ceramic workshop in Rishtan and the town of Kokand before arriving in Tashkent. Here, we explore the city’s key sites, including Independence Square, the Earthquake Monument, and the metro stations, before enjoying free time for individual exploration.
