Beginning in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, your journey sets off through a vast fjord surrounded by glaciers and mountains, crossing the Arctic Circle with chances to watch the aurora borealis from the deck. After exploring the former US Air Force base town, the voyage continues into Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord—aptly named “fjord of eternity”—where calving glaciers and sheer cliffs dominate the landscape. A Zodiac cruise brings you closer to this dynamic glacial environment warmed by the West Greenland Current.
The route then leads to Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, where the National Museum showcases the famous Qilakitsoq mummies amid a blend of Danish colonial and modern culture. Sailing across the Davis Strait towards Labrador, you engage with Inuit culture through workshops, presentations, and traditional games, gaining insight into the land and its people while scanning for whales and seabirds.
In Labrador’s Torngat Mountains National Park, the rugged tundra invites hiking, Zodiac cruising, and wildlife spotting. Guided by Inuit hosts we will spend four full days in the park. The name “Torngat,” meaning “place of spirits,” reflects the deep cultural significance of this land. Visits to Hebron and Nain offer historical perspective and warm encounters with Inuit communities.
Along the Labrador coast, rolling forests and rocky islets set the stage for further exploration. At L’Anse aux Meadows, you discover the only verified Norse settlement in North America through reconstructed buildings and engaging exhibits. Finally, the journey concludes in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where colourful harbour views and historic architecture provide a fitting end to this immersive Arctic and subarctic expedition.
