Your one-week discovery tour of Malta begins with a transfer from the airport to Gozo, a quieter and greener counterpart to Malta.
Exploration of Gozo begins with a visit to Xlendi, a coastal village with a scenic promenade, followed by the capital, Victoria. The imposing Citadel offers panoramic views across the island, and a walk through its narrow streets reveals layers of history, including the old prison where the Knights of Saint John detained their unruly members. Nearby, the Ggantija temples stand as a testament to ancient ingenuity, dating back to 3600 BC and believed to be among the world's oldest free-standing structures. A walk from Calypso’s Cave to Ramla Bay rounds off the day, with the chance for a swim at the red-sand beach.
The next stop is Dwejra, an area shaped by time and the sea, where Fungus Rock and the Inland Sea offer unique geological sights. A scenic walk from Zebbug to Xwejni Bay showcases limestone formations and traditional salt pans. After lunch in Marsalforn, we'll returns to Malta, stopping for a photo opportunity of Comino and the Blue Lagoon before settling into the hotel in Sliema.
Malta’s capital, Valletta, provides a deep dive into history with a walking tour through its fortified streets. The visit includes Saint John’s Co-Cathedral, home to intricate baroque interiors and tombs of the Knights, as well as the National Museum of Archaeology and the Upper Barrakka Gardens, which offer views of the Grand Harbour.
A visit to the Three Cities — Senglea, Vittoriosa, and Cospicua — uncovers Malta’s maritime heritage. A stop in Marsaxlokk, a fishing village known for its colourful boats and seafood, allows time for lunch before a harbour cruise offers a perspective of Valletta’s imposing fortifications.
A journey through Malta’s prehistoric past follows, with visits to the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temple complexes, set against the island’s rocky coastline. A stop at the Blue Grotto provides an optional boat excursion to see the vibrant underwater hues. The day concludes with a local food and wine tasting experience, highlighting Maltese culinary traditions.
The final day of touring includes a visit to Mdina, the medieval capital, where narrow alleys and historic buildings offer insight into Malta’s layered past. A walk through San Anton Botanical Gardens and a stop at the Mosta Dome round off the trip before returning to Sliema for a last evening meal
