Starting off in Glasgow we ride the famous West Highland Line through some of the most beautiful scenery Scotland has to offer.  Explore Old Inverlochy Castle as you admire Ben Nevis looming up over Fort William.  Journey across the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, famous from the Harry Potter movies, before taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides.  Hike around Portree Bay and join in for a whisky tasting.  There is ample free time to explore Skye, perhaps to visit Dunvegan Castle & Gardens or to take an boat trip on the Sound of Raasay.
Via Eilean Donan Castle we travel to Loch Ness for a boat cruise before visiting Culloden Battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite rebellion came to a bloody end.  After a walk through INverness the rest of the day if your own, perhaps to explore Aviemore in the Cairngorms.
Crossing the Firth of Forth by train we reach beautiful Edinburgh with its imposing castle.  Your local guide will show you the highlights like the Scottish Parliament buildings, the Royal Mile and Canongate Cemetery, after which there is free time to explore the Old Town, the fairy-tale Dean Village neighbourhood, or portside Leith.
