He has been to 103 countries and counting, and can give you expert advice as to to when, where, how and even with who (in terms of tour operators!). Tom is extremely diligent with details and thinks of everything you need to know in order to have the best trip possible. He doesn’t book your trip and walk away. Tom provides useful articles, interesting books to read, tips, packing lists and more. He even checks in with you prior to your departure to make sure you are all set. Tom has amazing customer service and communication skills and is also very patient. He is fun and has a great sense of humour. Tom is just as excited about your trip as you are, which is exactly what you want in a travel agent. I am extremely grateful for all of Tom’s help with my many trips that he has organized for me. I was originally booked to travel with One Ocean to travel in February 2020. The cruise was cancelled not due to Covid but to One Ocean's financial problems which led to their ships being seized. Tom rebooked me with Oceanwide for March 2021 and again for 2022, but both cruises were cancelled due to Covid. I finally got there in March 2023 and it was well worth the wait. We have had 3 years' worth of email and phone correspondence about my trip; he always responded to my questions in a timely manner and helped me through the complex booking process and with the decisions I needed to make. I also had the benefit of his own experience travelling to Antarctica. It was truly the trip of a lifetime.

[By Email] As I sit in the airport lounge, I reflect on how easy it has been to organize this trip. I contacted Tom nearly a year ago to ask if he could help us book a trip to Egypt. Of course, I already knew Tom would be more than willing to help …. I had worked with him before and always had wonderful service and amazing trips!
Tom’s attention to detail and customer service is beyond exceptional. He provided excellent advice on which airlines would be best and what insurance we should get. He made certain our extra nights in Cairo were at the same hotel that our tour company ultimately used and he arranged for local transportation between the airport and hotel.
Very early on, we told Tom we wanted to pre-book a number of optional excursions offered by the tour company. To his credit, he continuously followed up with to tour company while we waited for them to officially offer the excursions, always updating us on the status.
No question or request was too much trouble; he always answered, quickly, professionally, and sometimes with a wonderful sense of humour; it did not matter if he was in Toronto or enjoying life half way around the world.
Because Tom is super organized, I am organized and able to relax. Several weeks prior to departure, he sent us all the documents and bookings we had made. They were easy to follow and not a detail was missed.
Tom is my “go to” travel expert …. I have never been disappointed and I am certain you will receive the same 5 star service as I get!

Knowledge. Access to private tours and the ability to completely customize trips.
I sometimes still book my own (like this last trip to Senegal/Paris), but I have been working with Tom on my “adventure” trips since my first solo trip, to Egypt, in about 1995.
And booking isn’t even the main benefit. He fought with the insurance company and got me something like $7k back for a COVID cancelation, was able to negotiate favourable terms for rescheduling our coming Antarctic cruise when cancelled (COVID), etc.
But, knowledge too… doing a G [Adventures] tour in Namibia this August, then 10 day private trip in South Africa, Zambia and Botswana. Encyclopedic knowledge to help get the best out of the private [trip].
And attention to detail. He seems to have a system to keep track of #of trips with each operator to ensure you are getting the repeat discounts, credits, etc.

Tom has been helping me plan trips for 20 years (or more) and I have had some marvelous experiences. Not only has he found great trips for me (Ethiopia, Antarctic, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan/Kazahkstan...) but he also suggests and plans 3 or 4 day add-ons that take me to places/experiences not included in the particular trip but that he knows I would like - saw the elusive leopard in Sri Lanka, a palmist in India was fun, Iguazu Falls after a trek in Patagonia......
But I think there is one extra advantage to working with the same person for a number of years that tends to get overlooked. When I come across a trip that looks really good on paper, he is able to tell me if he thinks it might not suit me and why (and suggest something more "me-oriented"). Really helps me avoid over-hyped expensive pitfalls.
